HOw should I come to my appointment?
Please arrive to your appointment 5 minutes prior to get signed in. Mel asks that you bring your own mascara, come with hair clean (no wet hair and no flat iron on the hair), and spray tan rinsed off. Feel free to bring any products you may want Mel to use. However, Mel has everything needed to complete your glam look. Other artists and assistants that are trained under Mel may be at your appointment working/prepping you to help Melissa. Please read our "RULES" tab to familiarize yourself with what is expected.
Should I book a trial run for my wedding?
It is highly recommended to set up a trial run for your wedding. The trial allows for Melissa to get to know you better and get a feel for what you want on your big day. It allows for the wedding day to run smoothly. Mel suggests booking your trial run at least 3 months in advance. Bring inspiration photos and photos that you think you look your best in!
My wedding party is large, will you be able to service all of us?
Absolutely! Mel has a #makeupmelteam that travels with me, if necessary. The team can handle any size party. Mel asks do ask that you notify us of your party size at time of booking your wedding day via email.
Do you offer airbrushing?
Yes, we do offer airbrushing.
Do I travel?
Yes! Traveling costs are $0.56/mile x 2. Travel costs cover the travel from my location [Bessemer Studio} to your location and back. If you need Mel prior to 8:00 AM, there is a $25 fee. There is a 5 person minimum for the #makeupmelteam to travel for your services.
How Should I prep my hair and face before my wedding day?
Wash your hair the night before. Do not use anything out of your normal. Do not use a straightening iron. It is suggested that you blow dry your hair as smooth as possible. A blow out is highly recommended. Wash your face like you usually would, but avoid doing anything out of the normal at least 2 weeks prior. Any facial waxing, tweezing, or treading needs to be done over a week before the wedding day.
What is a product fee?
The product fee is used in weddings as a one-time fee of $25 that is charged to help keep the prices low for cliental. It covers the use of various products used during the appointment. *Only applies to weddings*
How to I book an appointment?
In order to book an appointment, go to our booking tab. The booking tab has specific instructions. YOU MUST READ THEM. We do not accept walk ins.
Where is Mel located?
Mel has a studio located in Bessemer, AL and one in Hoover, AL. When booking your appointment, you will be told to which studio to come to.
What if I'm allergic to certain makeup/hair products?
If you have any allergies associated with cosmetics or hair products, please inform Melissa when booking your appointment. Mel will not be held liable if unaware of allergies or skin sensitivities. All products and brushes that are used are sanitized properly prior to each individual appointment.
What forms of payment do you accept?
At this time, Mel accepts Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, Check with no name on it, and cash.
